JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Leading 10-5 in the first quarter, the University of North Alabama women's basketball team went cold from the floor to trail 27-20 at the half and eventuallyt drop a 60-50 ASUN Conference decision to Jacksonville State at Pete Matthews Coliseum.
UNA would shoot just 32 percent from the floor in the game and 26 percent on its three point attempts to fall to 8-12 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The loss snapped a two-game road winning streak for the Lions.
North Alabama trailed 14-12 after one quarter, 27-20 at the half and 45-33 after three periods. The Lions did outscore the Gamecocks 17-15 in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough.
Jade Moore and
Alexis Callins led UNA with 14 points each, and
Skyler Gill added eight points and eight rebounds.
The two teams were evenly matched in most phases of the game, but JSU held a decisive 46-34 rebounding advantage.
North Alabama plays at Central Arkansas on February 2.
