Double-double average nabs Floyd’s first career weekly honor

ATLANTA (October 23, 2023) – North Alabama junior outside hitter Katy Floyd was announced as the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week for volleyball on Monday by the league office.

Starting in two home matches this weekend against North Florida and Jacksonville, Floyd averaged 16.5 kills and 12 digs per match in four-set wins against the Ospreys and Dolphins in CB&S Bank Arena.

She totaled 33 kills over the weekend, including a 19-kill performance on Oct. 22 against Jacksonville. The performance tied graduate middle blocker Anna Katherine Griggs for the season-high in kills by a UNA individual and was two from tying her career-high of 21.

Defensively, Floyd tallied 24 digs and was solid receiving serves with a .964 service reception percentage on 56 attempts. She also provided a block and an assist to round out the weekend.

With the Lions owning a 13-9 overall record and a 5-5 ASUN record, North Alabama continues conference play Wednesday, Oct. 25 where they will face the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears on the road at 6 p.m.
