FLORENCE, Ala. (November 2, 2023) – The University of North Alabama beach volleyball team will conclude their inaugural fall season at the AVCA Collegiate Beach Championships and the Blazer Invitational in Hunstville and Birmingham, Ala. this weekend.
The Lions will compete in a two-event weekend for the first time this fall season. ABOUT THE AVCA COLLEGIATE BEACH CHAMPIONSHIPS
UNA makes the return trip to Huntsville for their second straight AVCA-sponsored event — the AVCA Collegiate Beach Championships.
Competing from Nov. 3-5, UNA earned two bids earlier this year to the tournament, marking the first such appearance at the championships in program history. North Alabama will send Martin and Robinson, as well as the team of Paula Klemperer/Taylor Seney, to the tournament, competing against Division I teams from across the country.
The tournament will open on Friday, Nov. 3, with six matches in pool play with four pairings per pool. All matches will be match play (best two out of three), with the first two sets to 21 and the third to 15.
The top two teams from each pool will go into the championship bracket, while the bottom two teams will go into a consolation bracket and play out over the course of two days.
