NOTES
SCOUTING THE LIONS: The Lions enter Saturday with a 3-5 record, looking to earn their first road win of the season against the Mocs. All three of North Alabama's wins have come against programs from the state of Tennessee, including UT Southern (Nov. 6), UT Martin (Nov. 21) and Fisk (Dec. 5). The Lions are one of the highest scoring teams in the Atlantic Sun Conference, touting a 73.3 points per game average to rank third. UNA also ranks in the top five in the conference in free throw percentage (77.1 percent/first), three-pointers made per game average (8.9/second), three-point percentage (34.5 percent/fourth) and field goal perecentage (42.1 percent/fifth).
SCOUTING THE MOCS: Located in Chattanooga, Tenn., Chattanooga competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Southern Conference (SoCon), having joined in 1976. The Mocs have 15 intercollegiate athletic programs and began playing women's basketball in 1974 with an all-time record of 922-534. UTC looks to continue their early-season form against the Lions, coming off of an upset win at home against No. 21 Mississippi State last Sunday, 59-53. The Mocs are 8-1 on the season, including a 3-1 record at home, and are currently on a six-game winning streak.
SERIES HISTORY: Chattanooga leads the all-time series 3-1. Three of the past four meetings between UNA and UTC have come in the Division I era (2020, 2021 and 2022), with the last meeting resulting in a 55-44 win for Chattanooga in Florence last season. The first game between the two programs came in 1987, when Chattanooga secured a close 85-84 win at home. The one-point victory is also the smallest margin of victory in the series, with the next closest being a 74-71 win by the Lions on December 18, 2021.
CLUTTER'S CAREER NIGHT: Clutter recorded her first career double-double in North Alabama's 95-60 win over Fisk on Dec. 5. The Washington, Pa. native recorded her career high in points (18), rebounds (10) and free throws (10) en route to the Lions' third win of the season. This marked the third double-double of the season for UNA Women's Basketball this season after senior guard Sara Wohlgemuth against Missouri and true freshman Veronaye Charlton against UTEP. It was also marked the first points/rebounds double-double of the season by a Lion.
A HOLIDAY TRADITION: Saturday's game against the Mocs will continue a trend by the teams going back to the first meeting in 1987. Since that first game, all five scheduled meetings have come in the month of December.
