FLORENCE, Ala. -- Playing its first home match of the 2023 season, the University of North Alabama men's tennis team came out on the short end of a hard fought 4-3 match at Chattanooga at the Cox Creek Park Tennis Center.
Chattanooga took the doubles point before UNA's
Jamie Bixby gave the Lions their first point at No. 6 singles with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Kristof Kincses.
Guilherme Diniz then won at No. 4 singles, while UTC got wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles. The top two singles matches went three sets with UTC getting the winning point in Kerim Hyatt's 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles over UNA's Carlos Matarredona. North Alabama's
Lachlan Brain picked up a win at No. 2 singles when his opponent retired with Brain holding a lead in the third set.
