FLORENCE, Ala. -- Playing their eighth game in the last 17 days, the University of North Alabama women's basketball team closed out the home portion of its season with a solid 74-51 win over North Florida at CB&S Bank Arena.
The Lions trailed 24-13 at the end of the first quarter but then doubled the Ospreys in the second period 22-11 to tie the game at 35-35 at the half.
UNA took complete control of the game in the fourth period, holding UNF to just four points while scoring 22 for the final 23-point victory margin.
The win was UNA's fourth straight and pushed the Lions record to 6-2 in the month of February. UNA is now 14-14 overall and 9-8 in ASUN Conference play. UNF drops to 8-19 overall and 5-12 in the ASUN.
Freshman
Emma Kate Tittle led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points. Hina Suzuku, the Lions' only senior, added 11 points, as did
Sara Wohlgemuth.
Skyler Gill pulled 12 rebounds to lead the Lions.
UNA made just eight of 30 three-point attempts, while UNF was 3-of-15.
The Lions close their regular season on the road at Jacksonville on March 1 before beginning play in the ASUN Conference Tournament.
