JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- With the team match tied 3-3, Lachlan Brain rallied from a set down and a 5-3 deficit in the second set to defeat Jacksonville State's Zavier Sarda Marti 7-5, 6-4 and give North Alabama a 4-3 win over the Gamecocks in ASUN Conference tennis play.  

The win was UNA's fifth of the season and the Lions' first conference win of the year. The five team wins in a season is the most by a UNA men's tennis team on the Division I level.

UNA took a 3-1 lead with the doubles point and a pair of quick singles wins, but Jacksonville State rallied to tie the match at 3-3.

UNA got wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point.

In singles, Chris Zhang at No. 5 and Federico Scotuzzi at No. 6 made quick work of their opponents, as did JSU at No. 3 to make it a 3-1 match.

The Gamecocks then pulled out a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 4 and a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 to tie the match.

The determining point of the match came down to Sarda Marti and Brain at No. 1, with Brain winning 6-7, 7-5, 6-4.

The Lions are now 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
