Volleyball lands Tennessee transfer Jasmine Brooks

Former Top 50 prospect joins North Alabama roster for 2024

FLORENCE, Ala. (January 17, 2024) – University of North Alabama head volleyball coach Tristan Johnson made a splash with his latest signee, adding graduate transfer Jasmine Brooks from the University of Tennessee on Tuesday.

Brooks is perhaps the highest-rated recruit in UNA Volleyball's history, as she was the PrepVolleyball.com No. 43 prospect in the country in 2020. For SEC-caliber Tennessee, this was the highest-rated recruit to commit since 2013.

"I couldn't be more excited to add Jasmine to the UNA Volleyball family," said Coach Johnson. "She will not only be an incredible asset on the court, but her maturity and leadership off the court will make an immediate impact. Jasmine's experience playing at the highest level will continue to push this program forward as we look to take our next step in pursuing championships. Bringing one of Alabama's best players home is huge for this program."

A former standout at nearby Sparkman High School in Toney, Ala., the middle/outside hitter makes her return to the region after four successful seasons in Knoxville. She played in 55 matches and 160 sets, totaling 295 kills and 60.0 blocks for the Vols.

Her career-high in kills was 20 against Georgia in 2022. She also had 10 matches in the 2022 season with multiple blocks and 12 with at least five kills.

Back in high school, Brooks played for her parents, Jesse and Lanora Brooks. She was an AVCA/Under Armour Honorable Mention All-American and amassed 1,594 kills over four seasons at Sparkman, averaging 3.72 kills per set. The Senators won an Area title in 2019 and she was a 2018 first team All-State selection. She was also the team MVP in 2018 as the team leader in kills, digs and aces.

Brooks plans to major in Sports Management at UNA. She has two siblings, Leah and Jade. Her parents both played basketball at Kentucky State and later her mother played at Alabama A&M.
