LINCOLN, Neb. (November 19, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team faced the No. 21 ranked Nebraska Huskers on Tuesday evening from the Pinnacle Bank Arena, falling 85-48.
The Lions concluded their Midwest trip with the outing in Lincoln, facing one of the best teams in the country in the ranked Huskers. North Alabama brought the energy early on, getting the scoring started off junior Cameron Jones's layup, but Nebraska eventually got into a groove en route to an efficient opening period.
UNA trailed 36-16 at halftime, but had its best offensive quarter in the third with 21 points. Juniors Jazzy Klinge and Sarang West led the offensive charge with a combined 16 points. UNA also outscored the Huskers, 11-6, within the first 2:30 minutes of play, forcing Nebraska to take the first timeout of the half.
Meanwhile, Nebraska had another 21-point outing in the fourth. However, the Lions forced three turnovers with junior India Howard securing a block and sophomore Katie Criswell nabbing a steal.
The leading scorer for the Lions was Klinge, who finished with a season-high 11 points. Senior Charity Gallegos registered 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers. West added nine points.
Jones led the team with nine rebounds — a new career high for the third-year forward. She also totaled two blocks. Three players finished with three assists in Gallegos, West and sophomore Veronaye Charlton, and Gallegos and Criswell tied the team-high with three steals.
The Lions return home to CB&S Bank Arena at Flowers Hall to face Cumberland on Monday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m.
