JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (December 16, 2024) – For the second time this season, North Alabama junior guard
Jacari Lane was voted the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week on Monday following a standout performance at East Carolina last Wednesday.
The Huntsville native scored a game-high 19 points with five rebounds and three assists, leading the Lions to a 74-67 win at ECU. Lane went 4-7 behind the arc and helped spark a 21-3 first-half run that put UNA ahead for the final 31 minutes.
Entering this week, Lane ranks 21st on UNA's all-time scoring list with 1,063 career points. He needs just three points to pass Wimp Sanderson for 20th on the list.
The men's and women's basketball weekly awards are voted on by the sports information directors at each ASUN member institution. For the first time this season, the ASUN Player of the Week had a tie in the voting, as Lane shares the award with North Florida's Jaylen Smith.
Lane becomes a four-time winner of the award, winning once as a freshman and once as a sophomore. He is the first repeat winner this season, as he also earned honors on Nov. 18.
Earlier this season, Lane was named to the 2024-25 Lou Henson Early Season Watch List. The award is presented annually to the top player in mid-major college basketball. Lane is also the only first team all-conference player from last season that remains in the ASUN.
Lane and the Lions are back in action Thursday, Dec. 19 to host Charleston Southern. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. inside CB&S Bank Arena.
