FLORENCE, Ala. (February 15, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team was defeated Thursday night by the EKU Colonels by an 84-57 final from CB&S Bank Arena inside Flowers Hall in Florence.
The contest was competitive early after one quarter with both teams scoring seven field goals each. The Lions shot 36.7 percent to EKU's 43.8 percent, but UNA held the Colonels to 0-3 from three-point range to limit the long-range attack. From there, EKU outscored the Lions by a double digit margin and led the rest of the way.
North Alabama scored 23 points in the final period, led by eight points by senior guard Alexis Callins and six from freshman guard Katie Criswell. Despite the surge, EKU stayed ahead and snapped UNA's three-game home win streak.
North Alabama's record now stands at 10-15 overall while an even 6-6 in the ASUN conference. EKU improves to 19-7 overall and 8-4 in the ASUN to remain among the top four teams in the league.
The leading scorer for North Alabama was graduate forward Allie Craig Cruce with 14 points, adding six rebounds with two made threes on the night. Callins was the second-leading scorer with 10 points, hitting two threes in the contest while also collecting three steals, two rebounds and one block.
