DELAND, Fla. (March 11, 2024) – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced its 2024 Men's Basketball All-Tournament Team after Sunday's championship game in DeLand, Fla. Senior forward Damian Forrest represented the University of North Alabama on the squad.
The all-tournament team is composed of three players from the winning team, two from the runner-up and one from each of the semifinalists. North Alabama defeated No. 3 Lipscomb to advance to the semifinal round in thrilling fashion before falling to No. 4 Austin Peay.
In those two games, Forrest nearly averaged a double-double with 30 points and 19 rebounds. His 11 points and 10 rebounds were instrumental in the win over Lipscomb in Nashville, while a pair of defensive stops in the final minute, including a block, allowed UNA to stay in position to win.
In the Austin Peay game, Forrest kept the Lions in striking distance nearly the whole way with 19 points and nine rebounds. He shot 8-11 against the Govs. For the two games, he shot 12-15 for an 80 percent shooting clip. He also went 6-8 at the line with 3-4 showings in each game.
For the season, Forrest averaged 10.4 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game. He finished second in the ASUN in total rebounding during the regular season. In addition to his all-tournament accolade, Forrest was unanimously voted to the Academic All-ASUN team this season. He was also a 2022-23 Academic All-ASUN selection and an ASUN Winner for Life.
The tournament ended Sunday afternoon, as Stetson captured its first ASUN Championship in program history. Stetson earned the league's automatic qualifier to represent the ASUN in the 2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The Hatters await the selection show which airs on CBS on March 17 at 5 p.m.
