Trio of Lions to participate in PGA Works

Eric Luo, Jahanvi Prakhya and Allycia Gan to play at TPC Sawgrass

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (May 3, 2024) University of North Alabama golfers Eric Luo, Jahanvi Prakhya and Allycia Gan are all three set to participate in the 2024 PGA Works. The 37th edition of the PGA Works will take place on May 6-8 at the Stadium and Dye's Valley courses at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. All three rounds of the PGA Works will be streamed live at PGA.com and on the Golf Channel.

The event is 54 hole stroke play while the field consists of 202 players across five divisions. Luo, Gan and Prakhya will all participate in the 52 player individual division.

Gan participated in the 2023 PGA Works and turned in a third place finish at the prestigious event. The Selangar, Malaysia native entered the third and final round of last year's event tied for first place.

"I'm excited because I get one last tournament with Allycia before she moves on," said North Alabama head women's golf coach Neil Self. Gan recently wrapped up her senior season at UNA, closing out her final year as the highest ranked golfer, according to Clippd rankings.

Gan began her career at Missouri Western before coming to North Alabama for her final two seasons of collegiate golf. She turned in five top 10 finishes during her senior campaign, the most of any UNA individual.

Prakhya joins Gan as the other member of the UNA women's golf team to participate in the PGA Works. The junior from Gujarat, India has been North Alabama's top finisher in the ASUN Championship in each of the past two seasons. Prakhya was named to the ASUN Conference all-third team following her impressive stretch during the spring season.

"I know the tournament will inspire [Jahnavi] through the summer and into the next fall," said Self.

UNA sophomore Eric Luo is also participating in the event as a representative of the UNA men's golf team. Luo turned in an impressive sophomore season that led to him being an ASUN Conference third team selection.

"I really think Eric has a good shot to win this event," said Schmitz Family Head Men's Golf Coach Austin Phillips, "he will be one of the best players there and he will have a good opportunity to have a good week."

"I'm really excited," said Luo, "I'm going to be able to go there and see if I can keep it on the green. I'm winning that thing."

The winner of each division in the PGA Works will earn an exemption to the Epson Tour or the Korn Ferry Tour.
