Top Things To Know: North Alabama vs. UT Martin

Lions hit the road to face defending Big South-OVC champions

MARTIN, Tenn. (September 12, 2024) – The University of North Alabama football team concludes non-conference play this Saturday against a regional foe, making the short trip through west Tennessee to take on UT Martin.
 
Here are the top things to know for Saturday's game.
 
1. KICKOFF: The Lions and Skyhawks will kick at 6 p.m. from Hardy M. Graham Stadium in Martin, Tenn.
 
2. TICKETS: General admission tickets are available for as low as $20 and can be purchased at this link. All tickets are digital. General Admission seating is anywhere in the stadium except the reserved chairbacks in sections C, D and E. All visitor seating in general admission.
 
3. PARKING AND TAILGATING: Parking at Hardy M. Graham Stadium can be found in the nearby stadium lot free of charge. There is also reserved handicap parking. Tailgating is welcomed three hours prior to kickoff in designated tailgating areas. Charcoal and gas grills are allowed. Tailgating areas must be cleaned up and all items removed within two hours of the conclusion of the game.
 
4. CLEAR BAG POLICY: UT Martin Athletics follows a clear bag policy. Fans are allowed to bring in one plastic, vinyl or PVC clear bag that does not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" to home games at the various UT Martin athletic facilities. Exceptions include clear storage bags, clutch purses, seat cushions or bleacher chairs and small diaper bags. For more information, click here.
 
5. MUGSHOTS WATCH PARTY: Fans who are not making the trip to UT Martin are encouraged to join our watch party at Mugshots in Downtown Florence. The broadcast will begin at 6 p.m. Mugshots is the official UNA Watch Party location for away football games this season.
 
6. WATCH ON ESPN+: Saturday's game will stream on ESPN+ with Davis Gregory on play-by-play alongside analysts John Halter and Chris Brinkley. Fans can tune in at 6 p.m. at this link or on the ESPN app.
 
7. CATCH THE LIONS ON THE RADIO: "Voice of the Lions" Benjamin Ray, color analyst Bryan Neece and sideline reporter Mike Ezekiel will be the radio broadcast team for Saturday. Lion fans can catch all the action on WLX Radio — 98.3 FM and 103.5 FM in the Shoals or worldwide on the WLX App or online at this link. The broadcast begins at 5 p.m. with the pre-game show and 6 p.m. for kickoff.
 
8. LIVE STATS: Fans who are interested in following live stats can do so via StatBroadcast.
 
9. SERIES HISTORY: Saturday will be the 34th all-time meeting between UNA and UT Martin. The Lions lead the all-time series 19-13-1. The series began in 1949 when UNA brought back the football program full time. After that first meeting, the Lions and Skyhawks played every season from 1960 to 1990. The rivalry went on break for 33 years as UT Martin moved up to FCS. This year will be just the second time the two foes are playing each other as Division I opponents. The Skyhawks won last year's meeting 37-21 in Florence.  
 
10. FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME: This will be UNA's first trip to Martin for a football game since 1989. The Lions won that game by a 28-6 final. UNA has won the last five trips to UT Martin, leaving with wins in 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987 and 1989. The last time UT Martin defeated the Lions at home came in 1979 by a one-point margin — 10-9.
 
11. FREQUENT OPPONENT: The Lions have played UT Martin 33 times, making the Skyhawks the eighth-most played opponent in UNA history. Among current FCS members, UT Martin is the second-most played opponent behind newest FCS member West Georgia with 35 meetings. The only schools ahead of UT Martin are West Alabama with 71 meetings, followed by Delta State (61), FBS members Jacksonville State (50) and Troy (44), Valdosta State (42), Mississippi College (35) and West Georgia (will be 36 this season).
 
12. UNA LUNCH HOUR ON WEDNESDAYS AT 306 BBQ: Fans are reminded to head over to 306 Barbecue in downtown Florence every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. during football season for the UNA Lunch Hour. The show begins at 11 a.m. and will air on WLX Radio (98.3/103.5 FM) and on the WLX app. The show will also air live at 306 BBQ hosted by Benjamin Ray and Mike Ezekiel. The show will feature a weekly appearance from Coach Brent Dearmon and visits from other coaches, student-athletes and staff members from the athletic department.
