Tucker, Kenebrew named UNA Promising Alumni

Senior cross country runner, graduate football receiver both recognized by UNA Alumni Relations

FLORENCE, Ala. (September 30, 2024) – The University of North Alabama revealed its Promising Alumni list for Fall 2024 on Monday, naming UNA student-athletes Beth Ann Tucker and Takairee Kenebrew on the list.

This award is given each year to eight graduating seniors who have demonstrated great promise in their chosen fields, through academic performance, and who show great potential for future community and university service, through co-curricular involvement.

Kenebrew is a graduate recipient, while Tucker is an undergraduate recipient.

"We are incredibly proud of TK and Beth Ann for this outstanding accomplishment," said Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Success Anna Milwee. "Both of them represent our university in an exemplary way, embodying the true spirit of student-athletes. Their dedication to academics and athletics sets a high standard, and we are excited to watch their continued success as they represent UNA, both now and in the future."

Tucker, a senior from Springville, Ala., has enjoyed a four-year career with the UNA cross country program. She is double majoring in CIS and accounting and has excelled in both categories.

On the course, Tucker ran three seasons and notched a win at the UNA Invitational in 2022. Her 5K personal record also came in 2022 at the North Alabama Showcase in Huntsville with a time of 18:10.2. She also posted a 6K PR at the 2022 NCAA Division I South Regional.

This season, Tucker has taken more of a behind-the-scenes role for the program due to injury. She serves as a student assistant to head coach Connor Callahan and helps maintain the team's social media pages. Tucker is also heavily involved in UNA's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has served in leadership roles for SAAC.

"Beth Ann has played a crucial role for this team," said Callahan. "She has a love and passion for UNA that will be carried out even after she graduates. In my short time here, Beth Ann has made an impact on me and shown what it means to be a Lion."

Kenebrew has been at UNA for seven years and is currently in graduate school. His undergraduate degree is in accounting. Those seven years includes a redshirt, a medical redshirt and a COVID season.

Kenebrew has played every season since 2021 as a starter, holding the school record for career receiving touchdowns with 29. That includes three this season heading into this week's game with Utah Tech.

"Since I arrived last December, TK has been a model on and off the field for the type of student-athletes we want to build this program around," said UNA head coach Brent Dearmon. "His commitment to athletics has been amazing example to our team."

Voting for the Promising Alumni award is exclusive to UNA faculty and staff.
