RICHMOND, Ky. (January 11, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team fell in weekend Atlantic Sun Conference action Saturday, dropping a 94-58 contest to the EKU Colonels in Richmond, Ky.
North Alabama (7-8, 2-2 ASUN) dropped its second-straight conference matchup, while EKU (12-5, 2-2 ASUN) erased a two-game skid for its second ASUN win and its first at home.
Junior Sarang West finished as UNA's top scorer for the first time this season. The New York native registered 11 points on 3-6 shooting (50 percent), also going 3-4 from the free-throw line. Junior Alyssa Clutter also finished secured a double-digit scoring outing with 10 points to go with two rebounds and a steal.
The Colonels began with a perfect start on the offensive end, hitting their first 11 shots of the game. The quick start sparked momentum for EKU, who went on to take an early double-digit lead in the first.
The Lions continued to compete in the second half, with UNA having its best scoring quarter in the fourth with 21 points. West scored 10 of her team-high 11 points in the quarter.
Junior Jazzy Klinge had three assists and one block on the afternoon. Klinge also tied with freshman Chrishunti Walker for a team-high six rebounds. Sophomore Chloe Siegel rounds out UNA's leaders with three steals – setting a new career high.
North Alabama returns to Florence for two-straight home matchups, starting with Stetson on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.
