Three Lions earn All-ASUN postseason honors

Barnes nabs Second Team All-ASUN; Ricketts, McGowan land Third Team nod

JACKSONVILLE (November 19, 2025) – University of North Alabama Volleyball standouts Kendall Barnes, Reese Ricketts and Kinslee McGowan were announced as postseason award recipients for Atlantic Sun Conference, as the league revealed All-ASUN honors Wednesday afternoon.

For Barnes, her first UNA season culminated in a Second Team All-ASUN nod. Stellar seasons from both McGowan and Ricketts resulted in Third Team All-ASUN honors.


This is just the Second Team All-ASUN honor in program history for UNA. Former standout Jasmine Brooks won the program's first in 2024. Ricketts tallies a second-straight year on the third team, while McGowan takes home her first-ever postseason award.

Barnes ended the regular season second in the ASUN with both 438.5 points and 400 total kills. She additionally was third in kills per set (3.57) and fourth in points per set (3.92).


A one-time ASUN Player of the Week, Barnes earned the honor after going off for a career-high 31 kills in a 3-2 win over FGCU on Oct. 12. It marked the most single-match points (31.5) and kills among all attackers in the ASUN.

Barnes ended the regular season with the most double-digit kill matches among the ASUN Top 10. The junior had 24 total, only finishing with less than 10 kills in five matches. She was nationally ranked among the top 100 attackers ranking 50th in total kills and 69th in total points as of Nov. 17.

Ricketts' second year resulted in season totals of 362 kills, 217 digs, 37 blocks, 26 assists and 25 service aces for a total of 406 points. She was third in the ASUN with 406 points and 362 total kills. Ricketts was additionally fifth in kills per set (3.29) and sixth in points per set (3.69).


The Harrison, Ark. native was a prolific attacker, earning 20 or more kills in four matches on the season. Her totals tied for second among the top 10 ASUN kill leaders. She was the match kill leader in nine total matches with eight coming in ASUN contests.


Ricketts earned her second-career ASUN Player of the Week honor on Sept. 29. She also set a new career high with 25 kills in a 3-1 victory over Stetson on Oct. 10.


McGowan rounds out UNA's postseason honors after leading the conference with 1,122 assists while second with 9.93 assists per set. She was the top assister in 23 total matches with 14 coming in ASUN contests.


The Cleveland, Tenn. native was consistently among the top 10 nationally in total assists, ranking eighth nationally as of Nov. 17. She is additionally ranked 42nd nationally in assists per set.


McGowan's season totals included 261 digs, 105 kills, 35 blocks and 33 service aces for a total of 157.5 points. She was the only ASUN setter with over 1,000 assists, 200 digs and 100 kills. McGowan's ace totals also led all ASUN setters.


McGowan earned the second-most ASUN Setter of the Week honors with four on Sept. 8, Sept. 22, Sept. 29 and Oct. 13.


The three look to lead the Lions in their ASUN Tournament opener versus No. 2 Jacksonville on Thursday, Nov. 20, in Fort Myers, Fla. First serve from Alico Arena is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
