FLORENCE, Ala. (August 1, 2025) – University of North Alabama head cross country coach Connor Callahan announced the hiring of former men's cross country runner
Noah Bonsall to his staff this week.
Bonsall — a four-year letterman that graduated in 2024 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science — ran in 19 races during his four seasons with the program. His best finish came in 2024 at the UNA Invitational where he finished 12th with a time of 25:52.15.
The Scottsboro, Ala. native was coined 'Cap' — short for Captain — by his teammates. Bonsall graduated with a strong 2024 class that saw five men leave the program. He helped lead a young core of newcomers, such as
Brian Bett, who became ASUN Runner and Freshman of the Year.
"I am thrilled to bring Noah on to assist the program," said Callahan. "He knows this program inside and out --- he's seen it grow and now he is ready to help take it even further. His deep connection with coaches and athletes across Alabama and the surrounding states, along with his genuine love for the sport, will make him a tremendous asset to this team."
Bonsall ran in seven meets during his senior season in 2024. He opened the year with a four-mile time of 21:33.3 at the City Auto Memphis Twilight that landed him ninth in the program's four-mile record book.
He sits 15th in program history for 10K times with his 33:28.9 at the NCAA South Regionals in Tallahassee, Fla. which concluded his senior season.
He also cemented himself once again with a 26:07.5 at the ASUN Championships that left him at 15th in school history for top ASUN Championship times.
"It is an honor to return to my alma mater in this new role," said Bonsall. "The last four years helped shape me as a student-athlete, and I cannot wait to help the next generation of student-athletes reach their potential, as well. It also means a great deal to me to start my career under Coach Callahan. He has had a tremendous impact on my development as an athlete and a person. I am looking forward to contributing to the program that gave me so much."
