Jackson garners ASUN Freshman of the Week honor

Near double-double averages secures first career weekly award

JACKSONVILLE (January 12, 2026) – University of North Alabama freshman Gabby Jackson was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

A standout weekend for Jackson leads to UNA's first individual conference honor of the season. Jackson secured career outings against EKU and Bellarmine while helping North Alabama win its first ASUN contest of the season against the Knights.

The rookie also landed UNA's first Freshman of the Week honor since the 2023-24 campaign.

Jackson led the team with 17 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game averages across the week. She was efficient from the field at 56.5 percent while more efficient from three-point range at 57.1 percent. Jackson led the team in total field goals (13) and three-pointers made (four), while tying the team in free throws made (four). The freshman also was the team leader in total rebounds (19) and steals (five) while second in assists (eight).

Against EKU, Jackson had an all-around performance including a career-high 21 points on 9-13 shooting. She totaled the team-high in rebounds (7) and team and career-high in assists (6). The Kansas City, Mo. native continued her strong play against Bellarmine, registering 13 points and 12 rebounds for her first career double-double.

Jackson looks to keep momentum rolling in Florida this week with North Alabama facing North Florida on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. CT.
