TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (January 16, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team fell in its opening season bout Friday at Alabama, dropping a 4-0 match in Tuscaloosa.
The Lions (0-1) complete their debut dual, challenging an SEC foe to kick off the new year. UNA fought to start in doubles, but the Crimson Tide (1-0) held firm to take the doubles point.
Alabama's Addison Bowman and Amina Salibayeva claimed the first doubles match in a 6-3 victory over UNA's Louise Booker and Sammie Schouten from court three. The Crimson Tide secured the doubles point in a 6-2 win by Kristina Paskauskas and Karla Bartel over senior Eeva Ristola and freshman Farah Asaad.
Juniors Emma Ansorge and Mathilde Delaney were battling back from a 3-5 deficit on court two, but the match went unfinished due to Alabama taking doubles.
Singles saw the Crimson Tide take three-straight courts en route to the win. Bartel opened with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Schouten from court four before Salibayeva beat Asaad from court six, 6-1, 6-1. The final win came from court three with Alabama's Andrienko defeating Delaney, 6-1, 6-2.
Ansorge won her opening set in the No. 2 spot against Klara Milicevic, but the match went unfinished as the match was clinched. She was down 4-3 in the second set before the stoppage.
