Women’s Basketball drops road bout at Stetson

Ceppellotti, Criswell and Jackson score in double figures

DELAND, Fla. (January 3, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team concluded its Florida road trip Saturday afternoon with a 76-59 defeat to Stetson in DeLand, Fla.

The trio of sophomore Sofia Ceppellotti, junior Katie Criswell and freshman Gabby Jackson led the UNA offense. Ceppellotti had a leading 16 points followed by 12 from Criswell. Jackson finished third with a season-high 11 points.

Five Lions tallied five or more rebounds with Ceppellotti leading with seven. Senior India Howard and Jackson totaled six boards, and senior Alexsandra Alvarado tied freshman Greta Ramon with five.

Ramon and Alvarado additionally tied the team high in assists with four. Three Lions registered a steal each in Alvarado, Jackson and Ramon.

North Alabama (5-8, 0-2 ASUN) totaled seven blocks in the outing – its second-highest team total of the season. Ceppellotti led the team in blocks with a career-high three on the afternoon. Criswell registered two blocks along with one each from Howard and senior Jazzy Klinge.

Stetson (8-5, 1-1 ASUN) had a solid start in the first, jumping out to a 22-9 lead after the first 10 minutes. UNA responded in the second with 54.5 percent shooting on 6-11 from the field. Criswell and Jackson helped spark the offense with five points each in the second frame on a combined 3-6 shooting. The Hatters went into halftime with a 44-27 advantage.

The Lions had another solid scoring quarter with 18 points in the third. Six Lions scored in the frame led by Alvarado with six points. The fourth quarter saw North Alabama outscore Stetson, 14-13. UNA also held the Hatters to its lowest shooting percentage in the fourth at 37.5 percent.

The Lions return to CB&S Bank Arena for ASUN action against EKU on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m.
