ATLANTA (February 12, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team will travel over to Atlanta for a two-match, two-day slate starting Friday against Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State.
Coming off their first two wins of the season this past weekend, the Lions look to keep momentum rolling. UNA preps for its first-ever meeting vs. Georgia Tech while facing a familiar foe in former Atlantic Sun Conference member Kennesaw State.
North Alabama opens against the Yellow Jackets on Friday before facing the Owls on Saturday. The Georgia Tech dual will be played at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex with first serve at 10 a.m. CT. The Kennesaw State contest will be played on the Betty Siegel Courts at noon CT.
Only the Georgia Tech dual will have live video options. Both matches will have live stats available for fans to keep track of the action.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama landed two road sweeps last time out over Jackson State and Lamar on Feb. 6-7. Three players won three matches on the weekend in junior Alberto Altur along with sophomores Samu Dominguez and Satoru Nakijima. Juniors Izan Orgiles and Alex Despoja totaled two victories and senior Lachlan Brain partnered with Dominguez for a doubles' triumph. The Lions are solid in doubles with seven players sporting at least one win. Altur leads the team with three, followed by two from Brain, Nakajima, Orgiles and Despoja. Six Lions have at least one singles win, led by Dominguez with three.
SCOUTING GEORGIA TECH: The Yellow Jackets are 4-2 overall on the young season. They were victorious in their last meeting on Feb. 6, sweeping Tennessee Tech at home, 7-0. Georgia Tech tallied 12 wins in Spring 2025 with five coming during play in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets have strong singles players, winning matches at a 58.8 percent rate. Six players have three or more wins, and four tie the team lead in No. 122 Jonathan Irwanto, Richard Biagiotti and Elias Shokry. Kenny Thorne leads Georgia Tech in his 27th season.
SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE: The Owls enter the weekend 3-2 on the season. Last time out, Kennesaw State claimed its first-ever win over Georgia State in a 5-2 victory on Feb. 8. KSU is coming off a Spring 2025 season in which the Owls won eight matches and secured a semifinal appearance in the Conference USA Tournament. Kennesaw State excels in singles play with a 59.3 percent win rate so far this season. Five players have at least three wins led by Nathan Walters with four. Matt Emery serves as the Director of Tennis in his eighth season.
SERIES HISTORY: The Lions and Owls match up in the fifth all-time series meeting and first since March 23, 2024. Kennesaw State leads, 3-1, but North Alabama claimed the last win with a 4-3 road victory.
