RICHMOND, Ky. (February 13, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team travels to Richmond, Ky. for a Saturday matchup at EKU, marking the fourth leg of a five-game road swing.
Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CT. The Lions prepare for a battle against the top team in the Atlantic Sun Conference, as EKU enters 12-1 in league play and has a three-game lead on Jacksonville for second at 9-4. The Lions are one game back from that second spot at 8-5 in a five-way tie for third.

LAST TIME OUT: North Alabama earned a wire-to-wire, 65-60 road win against West Georgia in a battle of former Gulf South Conference rivals. UNA gained its fifth road victory of the season and weathered the storm of the Wolves and their strong home record. Entering the contest, West Georgia only had one home loss the entire season with a 12-1 mark. The victory also marked the first for the Lions in Carrollton since Jan. 13, 2018. Junior Katie Criswell had a career scoring night with 22 points on 9-16 shooting while hitting a career-high four three pointers.
SCOUTING UNA: The Lions have excelled in ASUN action with an 8-2 record in the past 10 contests. The span has included four-straight victories from Jan. 10-22 (Bellarmine, North Florida, Jacksonville and Queens) and three-straight from Jan. 31 - Feb. 7 (FGCU, Austin Peay and at Queens). Three players have averaged over 10 points in senior Alexsandra Alvarado (17.2 points per game), senior India Howard (10.2 PPG) and Criswell (10 PPG). Sophomore Sofia Ceppellotti and freshman Gabby Jackson have also contributed with 9.2 PPG averages.
SCOUTING EKU: The Colonels are 21-5 on the season and 12-1 in the ASUN. Last time out, the Colonels were defeated in a 60-48 result to Central Arkansas – their first loss since Dec. 17, 2025. EKU has the top scoring offense in the ASUN at 75 points per game. They also lead the conference scoring margin (+14.2 per game), opponent three-point percentage (25.3 percent), free-throw percentage (73.7 percent), defensive rebounds (29.2), assist/turnover ratio (1.15) and assists (15.69). Joseana Vaz leads the team with 13.8 PPG (sixth in ASUN) and is the current conference Newcomer of the Week.
SERIES HISTORY: UNA goes for its third victory against the Colonels in the eighth all-time meeting. UNA looks for its first win in the series since claiming a 74-65 road victory on Feb. 17, 2022. EKU won the first meeting this season with an 80-78 result on Feb. 8 in Florence.
RIGHT UP HER ALLEY: Alvarado sports a team-leading 13.3 points per game. She is also UNA's leader in assists (79), three-pointers made (45) and steals (35). Alvarado is tied for sixth in the ASUN in three-pointers made per game (1.9 per game) and assists per game (3.3) while 10th in scoring. Defensively, Alvarado is tied for 12th in steals per game (1.5). She won her first ASUN accolades on Feb. 2, taking home both the conference's Player and Newcomer of the Week honor.
SOFIA SHINES: Ceppellotti is second on the team with 10.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. The sophomore is tied for 14th in three-pointers made per game (1.4), 15th in rebounding and 23rd in scoring in the ASUN.
GABBY GETS IT!: Jackson is the team leader in total rebounds with 152 for a 6.3 average. She has had at least seven rebounds in 11 games this season with the Kansas City, Mo. native 10th in the ASUN in rebounds per game. She earned back-to-back ASUN Freshman of the Week honors on Jan. 12 and Jan. 20.
BUKKY BUCKETS: Graduate Bukky Akinsola has shown veteran leadership in multiple parts of the game. Averaging 6.3 points per game, Akinsola has made her mark in the playmaking and defense category. She's second on the team in total assists (40) and has 19 steals on the season.
All INDIA, ALL THE TIME: Howard continues to produce on both ends of the floor with 7.3 points per game averages and 4.5 rebounds. She is the team's blocks leader with 23 on the season and leads in field-goal percentage at 57.9 percent. Howard totaled her 100th career block against South Alabama on Dec. 14, 2025, and played in her 100th career collegiate game on Feb. 9 at Central Arkansas.
COUNTING ON CRISWELL: Criswell has been finding ways to produce on both ends as well. She's been the Lions' on-ball defensive specialist and has accumulated double-digits in both steals (18) and blocks (14).
AMONG THE RANKS: The Lions are in the top 100 nationally in three categories as of Feb. 12. North Alabama ranks nationally per game in opponent three-point percentage (59th/28.1), defensive rebounds per game (75th/27) and opponent field-goal percentage (81st/38.1 percent).
SHARING IS CARING: UNA is one of the best passing teams in conference, ranking third with 13.71 assists per game. Eight players have 20 or more assists on the season with four totaling 30 or more assists (Alvarado, Akinsola, Criswell and Jackson).
NOTHING EASY: North Alabama gets it done on the defensive end with three players ranked on the ASUN's blocked shots leaderboard. Howard ranks seventh at one per game while Criswell and Ceppellotti are tied for 16th with 0.6 per game.
