JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (February 17, 2026) – University of North Alabama junior Alberto Altur was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Altur earned UNA's first conference weekly award of the season after a three-win weekend at Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State. Playing from the second flight, he took home two doubles victories with a singles win to add to his tally. The honor marks his third of his career after tallying two during the Spring 2025 season.
The junior began the weekend with 7-5, 3-0 singles win over Georgia Tech's Hidde Schoenmakers on Feb. 13, which ended with a retirement in the second set.
Against Kennesaw State, Altur started with a 6-3 doubles win with partner Satoru Nakajima over Dominic Ducariu and Anthony Weingarten on Feb. 14. He secured his two-win outing at KSU in a 6-2, 6-4 singles victory over Weingarten.
Altur's wins helped lead to a 4-3 road victory over the Owls – the second straight over Kennesaw State. Additionally, he registered his fourth doubles win while earning his second and third singles victory of the season.
Altur and the Lions look on to their first home dual of the spring on Friday, Feb. 20 against Austin Peay. First serve from the UNA Tennis Courts is set for 2 p.m.
