Box Score

FLORENCE, Ala. (February 20, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team earned its first home win of the season in a strong display Friday afternoon after a 7-0 sweep over Austin Peay in Florence, Ala.

North Alabama (4-5) returned home for its first dual in Florence since clinching the outright regular season Atlantic Sun Conference championship last season on April 13, 2025. The Lions showed why they are the defending ASUN champions after a dominant display vs. Austin Peay (2-4).

UNA set the tone from first serve, taking two of three doubles courts before blazing through to taking all seven singles flights.

Today marked UNA's third-straight victory over the Governors and the 11th-straight win over an ASUN opponent in the regular season. UNA's last loss vs. an ASUN opponent during the regular season dates back to April 6, 2024 at Lipscomb.

Including the 2025 postseason, UNA has been victorious over conference opponents for an additional 11-straight matches dating back to March 14, 2025 vs. Austin Peay. North Alabama went 8-0 against conference foes in the 2025 regular season and added two victories en route to the ASUN Tournament championship during the postseason.

All seven Lions were winners on the day, with four going 2-0 on the afternoon. Senior Lachlan Brain tallied singles and doubles wins along with junior Alberto Altur, sophomore Satoru Nakajima and freshman Benjamin Meyers. Juniors Izan Orgiles and Alex Despoja claimed their wins with respective singles victories.

Brain and Meyers got the winning started with their first-ever doubles win with a 6-2 result from court three over Bodi Van Galen and Lucas Ranciaro. Altur and Nakajima followed suit for their fourth doubles win with a 6-2 victory from court two over Vincent Lu and Felipe De La Hormaza.

Just like doubles, Brain grabbed the first singles win with a top-flight triumph over Rohan Loubser, 6-1, 6-2. Meyers kept his momentum going against Ranciaro in a court-five win, 6-0, 6-3. Nakajima's strong display from court six clinched the dual in a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Glen Arnet.

Despoja's lone win of the day resulted in a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over De La Hormaza from court four. Altur followed closely from court two after a 6-2, 6-2 win from court two. The longest match came from court three, but Orgiles fended off Logan Tomovski en route to clinching the sweep in a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
