FLORENCE, Ala. (February 27, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team earned its first Atlantic Sun Conference victory Friday morning in a 4-0 sweep over EKU from the UNA Tennis Courts.
North Alabama (7-2) keeps its winning ways rolling with a sixth-straight victory and the first this season over an ASUN opponent. Not only was this the ASUN opener for the Lions, but it was also the home opener in Florence. UNA was equally strong in doubles and singles.
Senior Eeva Ristola and junior Emma Ansorge led the way with both a singles and doubles victory. Junior Mathilde Delaney was victorious in doubles with Ansorge with freshman Farah Asaad gaining a doubles win with Ristola. Freshman Sammie Schouten tallied a singles win to clinch the sweep over the Colonels.
Ristola and Asaad had a perfect start to the dual with a 6-0 doubles win from the top flight over Masha Fedenko and Anastasiia Cherniakova. Delaney and Ansorge earned a 6-3 doubles win from court two over Sasha Parkhomenko and Ceylin Ipek to clinch UNA's doubles point.
Ristola's perfect outing continued in singles with 6-0, 6-0 singles win over Ipek from court one. Ansorge also capped her 2-0 day with a court two, 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Fedenko. Schouten tallied the winning team point from court five in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Zhansaya Bakytzhan.
