JACKSON, Miss. (February 6, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team secured its first win of the season Friday afternoon with a 4-0 sweep over Jackson State in Jackson, Miss.

North Alabama (1-4) landed the opening victory thanks a strong display all around. Two solid doubles victories gave way to three-straight singles wins to complete the sweep of Jackson State (0-4). The Lions increased their series advantage over JSU to move to 4-0 in the all-time series.

Doubles saw both wins result in 6-3 victories from the first and second flight.

Juniors Izan Orgiles and Alex Despoja won their first-ever doubles together over Ching Chang Chiu and Chen Hung-Yu from the top flight. Junior Alberto Altur and sophomore Satoru Nakajima doubled the advantage from court two to help UNA take the doubles point. It marked Altur and Nakajima's first win together since the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Final on April 19, 2025.

Altur and Orgiles continued in singles with respective wins along with a fourth-flight triumph for sophomore Samu Dominguez.

Orgiles' second singles win of the season came in a 6-2, 6-2 win from court three over Chiu. Altur followed with his first singles win in a 6-2, 6-3 victory from court two against Jhoan Vaquero. Dominguez's 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Hung-Yu secured the team win from court four – additionally totaling his second season victory.
