Men’s Tennis starts two-dual road trip on Wednesday

Lions hit road for away bouts at Georgia Southern and Stetson

STATESBORO, Ga. (March 24, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team travels for its next two duals starting Wednesday, March 25 at Georgia Southern and Stetson.

The Lions' road trip starts in Statesboro, Ga. against Georgia Southern with a 12 p.m. CT first serve. UNA continues the trip Friday, March 27 in DeLand, Fla. to face Atlantic Sun Conference foe Stetson at 1 p.m. CT.

Both duals will have live stats available courtesy of StatBroadcast. The Georgia Southern dual will also have a live stream option for fans to view the matches.

SCOUTING THE LIONS:
UNA has won seven of its last 10 duals, coming off a 4-1 win over Alabama A&M on March 15. Junior Izan Orgiles is the current ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week after receiving the honor on March 17. The Lions are solid in singles play with a 61.5-win rate this season. Junior Alberto Altur leads the team with nine wins followed by eight from Orgiles and seven from senior Lachlan Brain, sophomore Samu Dominguez and freshman Benjamin Meyers. Altur and Brain both lead in doubles wins with seven each.

SCOUTING GEORGIA SOUTHERN: The Eagles are 7-6 on the year and winners of two straight duals entering the contest. They defeated Georgia State in a 4-2 win last time out on March 21. The Eagles hold 54.3 percent win percentages in singles and 40 percent win marks in doubles. Albert Widell leads Georgia Southern with nine singles win followed by eight from Willy Mirarchi. Matthew Mitchell has a team-leading six doubles victories on the campaign. Georgia Southern is coached by Andrew Goodwin.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE EAGLES: This marks the first all-time meeting against Georgia Southern.

SCOUTING STETSON: Stetson has a 10-4 record this season and has won its last six duals. The most recent dual for the Hatters resulted in a 4-0 sweep of Brown University. Stetson is solid in doubles with a 63.6 percent win rate and have a 58.6-win rate in singles. Five players have six doubles victories led by eight from Kartik Mandla and Alexandre Verlaguet. Verlaguet holds the team lead in singles wins with nine from the top flight. Travis Sandlant serves as the Director of Tennis for Stetson.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE HATTERS: Stetson leads the all-time series with a 3-2 record. North Alabama swept both matchups in 2025 with a 5-2 home win on March 28 and 4-1 triumph on April 19 for the ASUN Conference Tournament Championship.
