Lachlan Brain, junior
Alberto Altur and junior
Izan Orgiles bringing home four total honors for the Lions.
Altur and Orgiles earned a major superlative after being named the ASUN's Doubles Pair of the Year.
Brain was selected as First Team All-ASUN for the third straight season, and Altur also secured his first-career first team honor. Orgiles caps UNA's award list after a second-straight season receiving Second Team All-ASUN.
Men's Tennis collects four ASUN postseason awards this season, which marks the second time in three seasons UNA achieved the feat. The Lions took home five in 2025 while earning four in 2024.
From 2024-2026, North Alabama has won 15 postseason awards out of 22 total in the Division I era, which began in 2018.
The Doubles Pair of the Year honor is the first for both Altur and Orgiles in their careers. It marks the second in UNA's Division I program history after Carlos Materredona Valor and
Nazar Fedoryshyn won it in 2023. Altur and Orgiles went 7-4 in doubles play, all coming from the top flight. In four ASUN bouts, the two were undefeated with a 3-0 record against Bellarmine, Stetson and Lipscomb.
The two started the season ranked 73 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. They held the ranking for nearly three months, holding the mark from Nov. 25, 2025 – Feb. 4, 2026. It marked the first time in UNA's Division I program history earning a national doubles ranking.
Altur and Orgiles won six of their final nine matches of the regular season with a 6-1 record from Feb. 28 – April 7. They ended the regular season with a five-match unbeaten streak with four wins against Georgia Southern, Stetson, UAB and Lipscomb from March 25 - April 7.
Brain continues to add to his decorated UNA career with a fifth postseason ASUN honor. He was a Freshman of the Year recipient along with an All-Freshman Team nod in 2023. He followed up with two-straight First Team All-ASUN awards in 2024 and 2025 before adding a third in 2026.
Brain won 20 matches across singles and doubles with a 9-4 singles record and 11-6 doubles mark. He played all his singles matches from the top flight while playing primarily from flight three in doubles. Brain was strong from the third flight in doubles with a 10-2 record.
In five ASUN duals, the senior won a combined seven matches with five coming in doubles and two in singles. He claimed singles wins against Austin Peay and EKU while victorious in doubles against Austin Peay, EKU, Bellarmine, Stetson and Lipscomb.
Brain won six-straight singles matches from Feb. 14-28 in action against Kennesaw State, Austin Peay, Tennessee State, EKU, Troy and Mississippi Valley State. He also won four-straight doubles matches twice from Feb. 7-20 against Lamar, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State and Austin Peay and March 27 – April 7 against Stetson, Southern Miss, UAB and Lipscomb.
Altur joins Brain on the first team after earning Second Team All-ASUN honors in 2025. He led the team with 24 wins across singles and doubles, sporting a 13-4 singles record and 11-7 doubles record. Altur was a mainstay at the second flight in singles while holding the top spot in doubles.
Altur began the season ranked 111 in the ITA in singles – a mark he held from Nov. 25, 2025 – Feb. 4, 2026. He went unbeaten for nine-straight singles matches while victorious in eight from Feb. 6-28 against Jackson State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Austin Peay, Tennessee State, EKU, Troy and Mississippi Valley State. Altur additionally won four-straight singles matches to end the regular season against Stetson, Southern Miss, UAB and Lipscomb.
The junior was a force in conference play, going 4-0 in singles and 4-1 in doubles. He had singles wins against Austin Peay, EKU, Stetson and Lipscomb. In doubles, Altur claimed victories over Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Stetson and Lipscomb.
Orgiles rounds out the honors for UNA with his Second Team All-ASUN selection. It brings his career postseason award total to five after winning two in 2024 and one in 2025. Orgiles was the ASUN's Freshman of the Year and an All-Freshman Team selection in 2024.
The junior won 19 matches, going 10-8 in singles and 9-7 in doubles. He was one half of the top flight in doubles while playing mainly from court three in singles.
Orgiles won six matches across singles and doubles in ASUN play, claiming victory in three each. He won against Austin Peay, Bellarmine and Lipscomb in singles and beat pairs from Bellarmine, Stetson and Lipscomb in doubles.
North Alabama readies to defend its conference crown in the ASUN Tournament quarterfinal round Wednesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. CT in Fort Myers, Fla.
The second-seeded Lions will face the winner of seventh-seeded Abilene Christian and 10-seeded Queens with the two set to play on Tuesday, April 14 at 4 p.m. CT.
