JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 13, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team earned its first conference postseason honor Monday morning, with the Atlantic Sun Conference naming junior
Mathilde Delaney to the Academic All-ASUN Team.
Delaney receives her first-ever ASUN honor with the selection to the academic team. To be eligible, undergraduate student-athletes had to have a cumulative 3.50 GPA, participate in 50 percent of contests during the season, have completed four semesters of college coursework or 50 percent of progress towards a degree and have one year of residence at the institution. She is majoring in Biology (Pre-Health).
The honor marks the second-straight season North Alabama has been represented on the conference's academic team and third overall.
Stanislava Bobrovnikova was selected to the team in 2025, while
Nina Linke earned the first in program history back in 2021.
The junior won 24 matches in her second season with the Lions, sporting an 11-4 singles record and a 13-2 doubles record. She played primarily from court three in singles, going 10-4. Delaney was a strong doubles player, playing mainly from court two with a perfect 11-0 record from the flight.
Delaney began the season ranked 104 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. She held the ranking for nearly three months, holding the mark from Nov. 25, 2025 – Feb. 4, 2026. It marked the first time in UNA's Division I program history that a student-athlete earned an individual national ranking.
Her season highlights includes starting the season 13-0 in doubles from Jan. 16 – March 31. She was 11-0 from flight two and 2-0 from flight one. Delaney additionally ended the season winning her last eight of 10 singles matches. She secured three total wins in three ASUN duals, tallying two doubles victories against EKU and North Florida with one singles triumph over Lipscomb.
Delaney and the Lions prep for their 2026 ASUN Tournament opener in Jacksonville, facing No. 4 Austin Peay in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 16 at 11 a.m. CT.
The rest of the postseason ASUN awards will be announced at 10:30 a.m. today.
