FLORENCE, Ala. (April 17, 2026) – Beginning Saturday, the University of North Alabama Department of Athletics will have alcoholic beverages available for purchase at select sporting events.
The debut of alcohol sales at UNA sporting events will begin with Saturday's softball game against Austin Peay at 12 p.m. inside Hilda B. Anderson Softball Stadium.
Fans must be at least 21 years old and have proof of valid identification to purchase.
The alcohol rollout will also apply to other select UNA Athletic venues. More information will be announced at a later date.
"Providing alcohol sales at our athletic events is a pivotal step forward in elevating the overall gameday atmosphere for our fans," said UNA Director of Athletics Dr. Josh Looney. "We are always looking for ways to enhance our fan experience, and this addition reflects the evolving expectations of today's college athletics environment. At the same time, we are fully committed to implementing the appropriate safeguards, training and policies to ensure a safe, responsible and family-friendly environment. Our goal is to create an exciting community setting where all Lion fans can enjoy game day at the highest level."
UNA has secured the proper state and local licensing, and supporting policies and procedures will be implemented at all UNA venues. Chartwells will provide the service.
