NOTES

SCOUTING THE LIONS:
The Lions improved to 4-0 against ASUN competition last time out in a 4-3 triumph at Stetson on March 27. The rematch of the 2025 ASUN Tournament Championship dual saw the teams play to a 3-3 tie until sophomore Satoru Nakajima provided a clinching 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 victory from flight six. The win also picked up the Lions' seventh win in 10 games. North Alabama has a 47.7 percent win rate in doubles but has a stronger singles performance with a 59.6 percent win rate. Five players have seven or more wins in singles led by junior Alberto Altur with 10. Junior Izan Orgiles is second with nine followed by Lachlan Brain with eight. Altur also leads in doubles victories with nine with Brain second with eight wins. Altur and Orgiles are tied with Brain and sophomore Samu Dominguez with five victories as a pair.

SO NICE HE WON TWICE: Altur was named the ASUN's Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season by the league office on Tuesday, March 31. The junior totaled his fourth-career ASUN weekly honor after tallying three wins in action at Georgia Southern and Stetson. He was 2-0 in doubles with Orgiles and picked up a key singles victory en route to helping UNA defeat Stetson, 4-3.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN MISS: The Golden Eagles prep for the matchup in Florence with a 7-9 season record. Southern Miss will look to snap a four-dual skid with its last win coming on Feb. 28. Olimjon Nabiev is the leader for the Golden Eagles in singles with eight wins. Pasawee Reansuwong sports the team high in doubles with six victories. Southern Miss is coached by Zubin Engineer.

SERIES HISTORY: The teams prep for just the third all-time meeting in series history. Both have one win in the series, but North Alabama claimed the last meeting in a 4-0 sweep on Feb. 27, 2025 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

SCOUTING UAB: UAB will make the trip to Florence with a 7-10 record on the campaign. The Blazers will look to get back in the win column after narrowly falling to Mercer in a 4-3 setback on March 27. UAB has a solid 50.6 percent win percentage in singles bouts with six players sporting five or more wins on the season. Conor Flynn and Ondrej Valek lead with nine singles wins, and Juan Pablo Valdez has nine doubles wins for the team high. Matt Coomer is the head coach for the Blazers.

SERIES HISTORY: UNA goes for its first win since 1985 in the 30th all-time meeting. UAB holds a 26-3 series advantage with the Lions claiming the first three wins of the series – twice in 1979 and once in 1985.

SCOUTING LIPSCOMB: The Bisons will enter the weekend with a 9-9 record on the season. Lipscomb's last outing saw the Bisons defeat Cumberland in a 6-1 victory on April 1. Henrique Ushizima leads the team with 21 total wins during the spring (12 singles, nine doubles). Facundo Perlov (17 total wins) and Filippo Verdese (16 total wins) round out the top three winners for Lipscomb. The head coach for the Bisons is Ben Roeser.

SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and Lipscomb face each other in the 55th meeting in series history. Lipscomb leads the series, 29-25, but UNA looks to win its third-straight dual against the Bisons. The last outing saw the Lions take a 6-1 win vs. the Bisons on March 19, 2025 in Florence.
