FLORENCE, Ala. (August 11,2026) – University of North Alabama head flag football coach Abbi Munson announced a new addition to her coaching staff Tuesday, as Sade' Roberts (pronounced SHAW-DAY) was named the program's first-ever assistant flag football coach. 

Roberts joins the staff with 15 years of coaching and playing experience in the football world. She played at the highest levels of women's full-contact football for 10 years where she was a national champion, a six-time championship title holder and a five-time All-American. 

Roberts is the owner and former player of the OKC Lady Force, a professional football team competing in the Women's Football Alliance. She brings experience from all sides of the field, both as an athlete and a coach. 

"Coach Roberts will be an amazing addition to our coaching staff, as she brings over a decade of experience in sport leadership," said Munson. "Her military, personal training, sports psychology and coaching background will guide her philosophies and coaching style. She will make the defense fast, physical and disciplined as we begin our inaugural season to set the tone of what the UNA Flag Football defense will be."  

Previously, Roberts was the head coach at Pratt Community College, taking over for Coach Munson when she departed for UNA in 2025. This will not be the first time that Munson and Roberts have worked together. Prior to UNA, they were teammates playing professional tackle football for the OKC Lady Force. 

Roberts has a decorated professional profile headlined with her bachelor's degree which she received at Grand Canyon University in 2025. Her degree was in psychology, taking an emphasis in sports performance. Roberts earned her associate's degree in personal training and fitness from Wright Career College in 2013, as well as an associate's degree in culinary arts from Platt College in 2011. 

With her overall professional and athletic experience, Roberts looks to bring leadership and discipline to the North Alabama flag football program.

"This opportunity represents more than just the next step in my coaching journey; it is an opportunity to help build something special and create a lasting foundation for women's flag football at UNA. I have always believed that athletics has the power to develop strong, confident, disciplined and resilient young women, and I'm passionate about helping student-athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field.

The Lions continue to prep for the first season of flag football at the University of North Alabama this fall. As the puzzle pieces come together, the Lions will open the inaugural season in Spring 2027.
