UNA CELEBRATES SECOND ANNUAL PLAYERS CHOICE AWARDS
FLORENCE -- Seniors Luke Wingo and Chloe Richards were selected as the 2016 University of North Alabama Lion King and Lion Queen, respectively, at the second annual UNA Player's Choice Awards at Norton Auditorium Center.
Wingo, a Tuscaloosa, Ala., native who has been the Lions' starting quarterback since 2012, and Richards, a Cornwall, England native who earned both All-American and Academic All-American honors last fall, received the highest awards at the event in recognition of being four-year lettermen at UNA who excelled athletically, academically and in community service.
More than 20 awards were presented to UNA student-athletes and members of the coaching staff, as selected by the athletes themselves.
The event included a Purple Carpet walk and photo opportunity as the student-athletes entered Norton Auditorium. Other athletes provided musical, vocal and dance performances during the show, in addition to a performance by The Roar.
