Dean Breese

University of North Alabama head football coach Brent Dearmon announced the hire of Dean Breese to his staff on June 1, 2026 as the Head of Football Equipment.

Accepting the position at 21-years-old, Breese is one of the youngest head equipment managers in the country. Prior to Florence, Breese spent three seasons as a student manager and full-time equipment intern for the football program at Coastal Carolina. Even from his internship role, Breese was heavily involved in the operation at Coastal Carolina and was trusted with many full-time responsibilities.

While at Coastal Carolina, his wide-range of duties included equipment management and inventory, purchasing, maintaining and repairing equipment, organizing the football facility, distribution of equipment, setting up practices, working alongside the defensive coordinator during practice to fulfill needs, ball prep for quarterbacks, working with various vendors, oversight of electronic equipment used in practices (including clocks and CoachComm), laundry, the training of 22 new students and interns and other duties as assigned by the coaches and staff.

As others have noticed his work ethic and ability, Breese received many exciting opportunities as a student manager. He has worked the Myrtle Beach Bowl Game in Conway, South Carolina and served as a 12U & 14U coach and as a referee for youth football in East Brunswick, New Jersey. In 2018, the 12U team put together an undefeated record and went on to win the AYF state championship. He also worked as an employee at Under Armour in 2024.

Breese worked numerous home and road games for Coastal Carolina, including all bowl games. For the 2023 Hawaii Bowl, where Coastal won 24-14 against San Jose State, he organized and executed a shipment of the team's equipment via boat. He also played a major role in helping Coastal Carolina relocate all of its equipment to NC State after the Conway/Myrtle Beach area was hit by Hurricane Debby.

Another point of pride for Breese at Coastal Carolina was assisting with an exclusive Glow in the Dark Jersey that was worn on ESPN. It was ranked the fifth best uniform of the week on UNISWAG.

He is originally from Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He currently resides in Florence.
