Ciarra Edwards

After spending one year as a graduate assistant, Ciarra Edwards enters her first season as assistant coach at North Alabama.
 
Before coming to UNA, Edwards spent time as a women’s basketball assistant coach at South Georgia Tech (2019-2020) and South Plains College (2018-19). She also served as an intern at Mercer, where she also completed her playing career.
 
Edwards lettered two seasons at Mercer, where she saw action in the post for 35 games during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.
 
Before playing at Mercer, Edwards played at Shelton State Community College for two years as a center.  In 2014-15, she averaged 10.6 points in just 21.1 minutes a game. She also notched 6.2 rebounds per game, and totaled 67 blocks, 56 assists and 33 steals.
 
Edwards prepped at Wilson High School in Florence where she lettered in basketball, volleyball and track and field. She was an all-state performer in volleyball her final two seasons and had 697 kills as a senior. In basketball, she earned all-state honors her final three seasons. As a senior, she averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and four blocks per game. She capped her high school career by playing in the prestigious Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.
 
In track, she was a double gold medalist at the state Class 4A meet, winning the shot and discus and adding a second-place finish in the javelin. She accumulated 28 of Wilson’s 56 points as the Warriors finished in fourth place.
 
After her graduation, she was named TimesDaily Female Athlete of the Year.
