Abby Patterson joined the UNA Athletics staff full-time on June 1, 2025 in the role of Academic Support Specialist.
Prior to this role, Patterson gained experience in the UNA academic and compliance offices as an intern in 2024 and continued to help through 2025. She directly worked under Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Success Sherry Kennemer.
Patterson — a Huntsville native — played four seasons on the UNA soccer team for Coach Chris Walker. She appeared in 27 matches as a forward from 2021-24. Prior to UNA, Patterson was an all-state and all-metro soccer player at James Clemens High School. She led the Jets to a trio of state playoff appearances and two Final Fours. She also played for the United Soccer Club in Alabama and won back-to-back state titles in 2019 and 2020.
During her time as a student, Patterson worked extensively in both youth and college athletics. Outside of her role with academics and compliance, Patterson worked the 2023-24 season as a game day operations student worker, setting up and tearing down events while keeping the court clean during volleyball and basketball events. She also worked in the student recreation center in 2023 and was a summer camp coach in 2022. She also worked as a USSF Grassroots referee for youth club soccer tournaments.
Patterson has also volunteered for various events representing UNA Athletics, including United Way, Teachers Warehouse, Forest Hills Elementary, Kilby Elementary, UNA's annual Community Egg Hunt, Shoals Animal Shelter and as a volunteer coach at Shoals Soccer.
Patterson completed her Bachelor of Science degree from UNA in May 2025, majoring in sport management. She currently resides in Florence.
