working at Big River Broadcasting for the Fox Sports Shoals brand (97.9 FM), h. He later worked his way into the broadcast booth full-time by becoming the Coordinator of Creative Broadcasting Content and Special Assistant to the Athletic Director. He was promoted to the Assistant Athletic Director / Senior Director of Broadcast role in 2023.

In his position, Ray has oversight of the broadcast, audio and visual productions at UNA, including play-by-play for ESPN+ and WLX Radio broadcasts, the UNA Lunch Hour hosted at 306 BBQ, the "Heart of a Lion" podcast, weekly Lion Vision Updates, as well as various roles as the interviewer, host or voice of UNA events.

While at Big River, Ray handled advertising sales and also co-hosted Matt and Ben in the Morning on the Fox Sports Shoals affiliate. He is a 2012 UNA graduate with a degree in sports management, and added a master's degree from Jacksonville State two years later in the same field.

Ray was a student worker in the UNA sports information department from 2007-12 and also worked in the SID office at JSU during his two years on campus. The Florence native has also worked media relations at the Talladega Super Speedway, the NCAA Division I Women's Final Four and several Alabama High School Athletic Association championship events.

His wife, the former Chelsea Murdock, is also a UNA graduate. They have a daughter, Ivy Lauren Ray.
