Dr. Janae Lyde has been with the UNA Department of Athletics since 2016. She currently serves as the Associate Athletic Director, Chief of Staff. She was named to this position in November 2025 after previously serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations since October 1, 2021.

As the Athletics Chief of Staff, Lyde is the department's liaison to human resources, leading organizational planning and driving strategic initiatives that include sport expansion, implementation of new department processes following the landmark NCAA House Settlement and alignment with evolving NCAA policy. She also serves as sport administrator for men's golf and volleyball.

Lyde started at UNA as a graduate assistant in 2016 before being elevated to athletic ticket manager in June 2018. During the first two years as a GA, she worked to earn her master’s degree in sport management in 2018. She has also assisted in game day operations and marketing and promotions.

In addition to her current role with UNA Athletics, Lyde serves as a Lecturer of Management in the Sanders College of Business and Technology, a position she's held since 2023.

A former standout on the UNA women’s basketball team, Lyde lettered three seasons at North Alabama, earning Gulf South Conference all-tournament honors as a sophomore in the 2013-14 campaign. She played in 67 games with 48 starts, totaling 324 assists, leading the team each season. She scored 535 points with 231 rebounds and an even 100 steals.

Lyde earned her bachelor's degree in sport management from UNA in 2016. She has since added a Master's Degree in Sport Management from UNA in 2018 and a Master's of Business Administration from UNA in 2019. She completed her Doctorate of Business Administration from Trevecca Nazarene University in January 2023.
