Gaines Jordan was hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at North Alabama in August 2026. He will primarily work with the football program.
Jordan comes to UNA bringing experience from multiple successful universities — the most recent being Southern Miss. He served as the assistant director of athletic performance for football for the 2026 spring season. Before USM, Jordan served one year as the assistant sports performance coach for the University of Wyoming football program during the 2025 season.
Jordan assisted the Auburn University football team for the 2024 season as an intern. He dedicated this time to learning the details of overall athlete performance. Jordan served as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Jacksonville State University for the 2024 spring season.
His professional career started at the University of South Alabama where he spent two seasons as an intern for football and track.
He achieved his bachelor’s degree in sports science & physical education from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. He lettered four years as a defensive lineman on the football team and was a multi-time all-conference selection. He contributed to two NCAA playoff appearances.
Jordan is NSCA certified in strength and conditioning, CPR/AED, and First Aid Certified. He is originally from Tuscaloosa, Ala.
