Gyvan Hammons was hired by North Alabama as a Athletic Communications Assistant on July 6, 2026.
Hammons is the primary contact for the men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and women's flag football programs. Hammons assists with creative intel for social media and UNA athletics events and will also work closely with Roar Lions Productions as a broadcast talent and sideline reporter for ESPN+.
"Gyvan was a model student-athlete who went on to become an excellent intern for our communications staff," said Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Mike Ezekiel. "From day one, Gyvan brought tremendous value to both our broadcast team and our creative media staff. She has a natural ability to communicate, connect with people and broadcast the stories of our athletic department in an authentic way. Beyond her talents as a communicator, she brings a positive energy that makes our office better every day. She was also a locker room leader for the softball program and will have the same type of impact for the next wave of student workers and interns. This is a well-earned opportunity, and I look forward to watching Gyvan continue to grow in this profession."
Hammons is originally from Hammond, Louisiana, and found her way to UNA first as a student-athlete. Hammons was a standout athlete for the softball program at UNA during the 2025 and 2026 seasons. She was featured on
SportsCenter Top 10 plays for her undeniable athleticism in centerfield.
In January 2026, Hammons joined the athletics staff as an intern assisting with social media content creation and event broadcasting. She would be found sideline reporting for UNA's spring sports while still competing as a college athlete herself. She also assisted the athletic communications staff and game day operations staff with various tasks.
Hammons completed her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of North Alabama in May 2026. Originally from south Louisiana, she currently resides in Florence with her dog — Raider ‘MoMoney’ Hammons.
