Natalie Shaw officially joined the UNA athletics staff on July 6, 2026 as an Athletic Communications Assistant.
Shaw is the primary contact for the volleyball, beach volleyball and men’s and women’s tennis programs. She also assists in creating social media content and working UNA athletic events, including the stat teams for football, basketball and softball.
"Natalie did a tremendous job as an intern in our athletic communications office, and keeping her on our staff was a no-brainer," said Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Mike Ezekiel. "She was an outstanding catcher for the softball team at UNA, and the qualities that made her successful behind the plate — processing information quickly, recognizing the fine details and thinking several steps ahead — translate perfectly to athletic communications. Natalie did an incredible job producing our softball game notes and worked seamlessly with our media partners during her internship — all while serving as our everyday catcher. I have no doubt that Natalie will have a successful career in this profession, and we are fortunate to have her on our team."
Shaw is originally from Olive Branch, Mississippi and first joined the University of North Alabama in 2024 as a student-athlete on the softball team. Throughout her two years at UNA, she started 97 games as the Lions' catcher. She also spent her first two years of eligibility at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where she was named First Team All-Conference.
In January 2026, Shaw joined the athletic communications department as an intern, assisting with statistics and game notes. She also assisted with social media content and assisted in the making of promotional videos with her fellow intern, Gyvan Hammons, for their own softball games.
Shaw completed her bachelor's degree in mass communications from the University of North Alabama in May 2026. She is originally from north Mississippi and currently resides in Florence.
