After serving as Director of the University Success Center at the University of North Alabama for three years, Sherry Kennemer transitioned to a new role as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Success within the UNA Athletic Department in January 2022.
 
Kennemer’s re-structured position leads student-athlete welfare services and academic performance within the department, and also leads the department’s Title IX and gender equity initiatives. She guides processes necessary to coordinate initial, continuing and transfer eligibility of student-athletes, student degree programs, academic progress, declaration of the major/minor process academic records review, development, assessment, and implementation of academic advising services, and required reporting for NCAA and ASUN Conference policies and procedures.
 
A former North Alabama student-athlete and a 1990 UNA graduate, Kennemer has over 30 years of combined collegiate coaching and administrative experience, including 19 years in the UNA program.

Following her graduation from North Alabama, Kennemer added a master’s degree in physical education from UNA in 1992. She joined the school’s coaching staff in 1992 as women’s tennis and cross country coach after having served as a graduate assistant the previous year.
 
Kennemer began her administrative career in 1994 at UNA, handling responsibilities regarding compliance, academic support and Title IX in positions that included Compliance Coordinator, Senior Woman Administrator, Academic Support Services Coordinator and Title IX Coordinator.  While at UNA, Kennemer coordinated the school’s NCAA Self Study in 2004-05, and also was the chair of the Division II Men’s and Women’s Tennis Committee in 2002-03 while serving on the Division II Committee on Infractions during the ‘06-07 academic year.
 
After serving three years (2007-2010) at Southeastern Louisiana University, the final two in which Kennemer was the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator, she took a position at the University of South Alabama for four years (2010-14). Initially hired as Associate Director of Athletics Compliance/APR Coordinator, she later served as Director of Athletic Academic Services and Senior Woman Administrator and then served as Director of Athletics Compliance.
 
In July of 2014, Kennemer returned to Southeastern Louisiana as Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services and the department’s Senior Woman Administrator and served there until January, 2018, when she returned to UNA as Coordinator of Athletics Compliance and Advising. She then became Director of the University Success Center in 2019.
