PINE BLUFF, Ark. (August 26, 2023) – The University of North Alabama soccer team travels to Arkansas-Pine Bluff in their fourth game of the season on Sunday, August 27. The Lions dropped their home opener on Thursday 1-0 to the Chattanooga Mocs.

NOTES

Series History: The University of North Alabama soccer team has an all-time record of 1-0 against the Golden Lions. The lone meeting between the two schools came on September 4 of last season where the Lions defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 5-0.

Scouting Arkansas-Pine Bluff: Arkansas-Pine Bluff enters the matchup with a 2-1 record. They dropped their most recent game to Oklahoma on Thursday, 8-1. The Golden Lions are coached by Erik Solberg who is in his fourth season with the program.

Chattanooga Recap: Chattanooga earned a goal in the first half and held off the North Alabama squad to earn their second win of the season. Chattanooga outshot the Lions, 9-7, while also holding the shots on goal advantage, 6-2. The Lions earned four corners to the Mocs one. Despite the loss, UNA goalkeeper Adriana Wright earned a season-high five saves while only allowing one goal against.

De-fense: Despite holding a record of 0-2-1, the UNA defense has held strong this season, allowing just three goals in their three games so far this season. That is tied for the fewest in the Atlantic Sun among schools who have played in at least three games. 

Iron Horses: Briana Eads and Adriana Wright are the only two players on the North Alabama roster to have played in every minute so far this season. Both Eads and Wright are transfers from in-state schools, with Eads joining via Jacksonville State and Wright coming by way of Alabama-Huntsville.

UNA vs the SWAC: The University of North Alabama soccer team has a 13-1-0 record all-time in games played against schools currently in the SWAC for women's soccer. Outside of UAPB, the Lions have met up with Alabama A&M (3-1), Alabama State (5-0) and Jackson State (4-0). The Lions are slotted to match up with Alcorn State in Florence on September 3 of this season

Next Game: Following the game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the Lions will travel to Western Kentucky on Friday, September 6 at 6 p.m. Following the game against the Hilltoppers, UNA returns home to take on Alcorn State on Sunday, September 3.
