MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill used two late rallies to take both games of a baseball double-header from North Alabama at Stan Galle Field, downing the Lions 3-2 and 6-5 in nine innings.
 
With the losses, UNA falls to 4-2 overall.
 
UNA held a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning of the opener before the Badgers rallied for five runs in their final two at-bats for a 6-3 win.
 
The Lions took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Dylan Calhoun singled and Taylor Hayes followed with a two-run home run. Spring Hill got a run back in the bottom of the second before UNA made it 3-1 in the third on a Peyton Sockwell single and RBI-double from Kyle Crabtree.
 
UNA starter Todd Gibson was driven from the game in the fifth after allowing two runs to tie the game at 3-3. Reliever Devan Traglia (0-1) then allowed three runs on six hits in one and two-third innings to take the loss. Gibson allowed three runs and three hits in four and a third innings, while walking four and striking out seven.
 
Wesley Parrish (1-0) got the complete game win for Spring Hill, allowing six UNA hits and three runs with 10 strikeouts.
 
UNA took an early lead in the nightcap with a run in the second inning. Taylor Hayes walked and went to third on a double by Davis Elliott. Hayden Holt then drove in Hayes with a ground-out. Spring Hill tied the game with a run in the third inning and added one in the fourth for a 2-1 lead. The Lions finally managed to tie the game in the seventh as Elliott singled and scored on an RBI-single by Crabtree.
 
In a game originally scheduled for seven innings, UNA scored three in the top of the eighth to seem to have the game in hand. Calhoun walked and Hayes drove him in with an RBI single. Conner Kiser then singled and he and Hayes scored on a two-run double by Heath Wood.
 
The Lions couldn't hold the lead, however, as Spring Hill scored three in the bottom of the eighth to send the game to the ninth.
 
The Badgers got a leadoff walk in the ninth and scored the winning run with back-to-back singles.
 
Blake Talley (0-1) took the loss for UNA, allowing one run in one and a third innings on three hits and one walk. UNA starter Austin Carpenter pitched six complete innings. He gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits. He struckout seven. Shawn Smirnoff pitched one inning of relief and allowed three runs on two hits and a walk.
 
UNA plays at Lemoyne-Owen on Tuesday (Feb. 16) and hosts West Georgia on Feb. 20-21 in a three-game Gulf South Conference series.
