HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama managed just 14 hits Saturday in dropping both games of a double-header to Alabama-Huntsville, 12-1 and 8-6. The Chargers out-hit the Lions 14 to six in the opener and used a nine-run fifth inning to put the game away. Game two was tied 5-5 in the fourth inning before the Chargers regained the lead to complete the sweep.
With the losses, UNA falls to 15-16 overall and 8-12 in the Gulf South Conference. Alabama-Huntsville improved to 21-13 and 13-7. The Lions have now lost eight straight and have gone just 5-13 over their last 18 games after a 10-3 start.
The Lions and Chargers play the final game of the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
UNA scored the first run in the opener when
Taylor Hayes hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning. UAH answered with a run in the bottom of the second, then added two in the third and nine in the fifth. UNA starter
Riley Sanderson (4-3) took the loss, allowing nine runs on 12 hits over four and a third innings.
Dylan Stewart pitched the final one and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on two hits. UAH's Wilson Adams fired a complete game, allowing just one run on six hits with 10 strikeouts.
In the nightcap, UNA again scored first, pushing two runs across in the top of the first inning. UAH then scored four in the bottom of the first and made it 5-2 with a run in the second inning. North Alabama tied the game with three runs in the fourth but the Chargers came right back with two in the bottom of the frame to make it 7-5. Each team added a run in the sixth.

Bradley Bailey gave up five runs on seven hits over two innings of work.
Devan Traglia (2-3) took the loss after giving up three runs on six hits over four innings.
Dylan Calhoun had two hits for the Lions, scoring two runs and driving in one.
Kyle Hubbuch also had two hits with one run scored and two RBI.
