UNA WOMEN SUFFER76-75 OVERTIME LOSS AT UAH

HUNTSVILLE – After getting a three-point basket to tie the game at the end of regulation, UAH outscored the University of North Alabama women's basketball team 6-5 in the extra period to claim a 76-75 overtime victory Monday evening at Spragins Hall. The second straight loss leaves UNA with a 15-5 overall record and 9-5 mark in Gulf South Conference play.

UNA led 70-67 after Ivy Wallen sank two free throws with 13.2 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Caroline Dodd, however, answered for the Chargers with a game-tying three-pointer with 4.3 seconds to play. The Lions would be unable to connect at the other end to force overtime.

The two teams traded leads with the game tied two more times in the extra period. Neither team connected from the floor for the final 3:37 of playing time. A free throw by the Lady Chargers tied the game at 75-75 with 1:03 remaining.

UNA had the ball with a chance to win in the closing seconds before a steal by UAH gave possession back to the Chargers with just over four seconds to play. The Chargers' Chandler Elder was able to seal the win, drawing a foul and sinking 1-of-2 free throws with 1.1 seconds on the clock.

The loss spoiled a career-high 35-point performance by Wallen. The freshman was 12-of-26 from the floor, including a three-pointer. Emma Wallen added 20 points after knocking down six three-pointers. Michaela DeKilder also recorded 12 rebounds for the Lions.

After starting the season 2-14, UAH has now won two of its last three games. Elder led the Lady Chargers with 21 points.

UNA will play at Lee on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. (Eastern) on the LU campus in Cleveland, Tenn.
