Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

UNA WOMEN TOP LANE 74-48

JACKSON, Tenn., – Ivy Wallen scored 26 points and the University of North Alabama women's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 74-48 win at Lane College on Tuesday. The Lions shot 50.9 percent from the floor and forced 20 Lane turnovers on the night.

With Lane attempting to slow the pace throughout the game, UNA took a 36-30 lead into the half. A 19-8 third-quarter run, however, stretched the lead to 55-38 and the lead remained double digits the rest of the way.

Brittany Panetti added 19 points for the Lions. North Alabama also held a 33-22 rebounding advantage, including a game-high nine by Michaela DeKilder.

UNA raced out to an early 16-5 lead before the home team began to rally. An 8-4 run by the Dragons closed the gap to 20-13 by the end of the first quarter.

Lane managed to tie the game at 22-22 midway through the second quarter before the Lions responded. Back-to-back baskets by Panetti and a three-pointer by Wallen pushed the lead to 29-22 with 3:46 remaining in the half. After the two teams traded baskets, another try by Wallen gave UNA a 34-24 lead.

With a six-point lead at the break, UNA pushed the lead back to double digits midway through the third. Lane connected on just three field goals in the third period and failed to connect from the floor for the final 4:34 of the quarter. A 19-10 fourth-quarter run put the game out of reach for the Lions.

Lane (0-2) was led by LaKeiya lane's 18 points.

UNA will play at Kentucky State on Nov. 20. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. (EST) on the KSU campus in Frankfort, Ky.
