LIONS ROUT KENTUCKY STATE TO IMPROVE TO 4-0

FRANKFORT, Ky., – Ansley Eubank scored 21 points while Ivy Wallen added 11 points and 11 assists to lead the University of North Alabama women's basketball team to a 71-44 win at Kentucky State on Monday. The win keeps the Lions undefeated at 4-0 on the season.

It was the second win of the year against KSU, which lost a 107-69 season-opening decision to the Lions on Nov. 10 at Flowers Hall. The second meeting between the two teams featured less offense but a similar result on the scoreboard.

North Alabama outscored the hosts in each of the four quarters, leading 20-10 at the end of the first period and 38-19 at the half. The Lions also forced 24 turnovers on the night, leading to 19 points. Three different UNA players had four steals each.

Emma Wallen added 15 points on the night. Her basket with 1:29 remaining in the second quarter gave the Lions the 19-point lead at the break. Kentucky State was held to 5-of-27 (18.5 percent) shooting in the opening 20 minutes of play.

The lead only grew in the second half. After KSU cut the deficit to 15 midway through the third quarter, back-to-back baskets by Emma Wallen was followed by a three-pointer by Savannah Stults and a free throw by Michaela DeKilder to make the score 50-27 with 4:58 remaining in the period.

UNA led by as many as 30 in the fourth quarter. A basket by Ella Wallen at the 2:34 mark capped a 9-0 North Alabama to give the Lions a 71-41 lead. DeKilder finished with a team-high seven rebounds. KSU managed a 48-39 rebounding edge.

UNA will remain on the road for its next three games. The Lions will play at Trevecca Nazarene on Nov. 25 before opening Gulf South Conference play on Nov. 30 at West Alabama.
