MONTEVALLO, Ala. -- North Alabama gave up six runs in the first inning and the Lions couldn't recover as UNA dropped an 11-5 decision at Montevallo.
With the loss, UNA is now 14-8 overall.
UNA starter
Shane Priest allowed six runs in the first inning without recording an out as the Falcons got four hits and two walks.
The Lions got single runs in the third and fourth innings but Montevallo responded with two more of its own in the bottom of the fourth to take an 8-2 lead. UNA's run in the third came when
Ben Cooley doubled and scored on a
T.J. Lockett ground-out. In the fourth,
Kyle Hubbuch doubled and scored on a
Drake Tucker single.
UNA was able to load the bases in the sixth on three walks and
Peyton Sockwell drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Cooley followed with an RBI-single to make it 8-4. Montevallo came back with a run in the bottom of the sixth to push the Falcon's advantage to 9-4 and got two more in the bottom of the seventh.

Priest (0-1) took the loss for UNA.
Dylan Stewart,
Jonathan Cook, Wil Bishop and
Channing Wall all pitched in relief for the Lions.
UNA was out-hit 14-9 in the loss.
North Alabama hosts West Alabama in a three-game Gulf South Conference series against West Alabama Saturday and Sunday at Mike Lane Field. UNA enters the weekend in first place in the GSC at 9-3. West Alabama is tied for second at 8-4.
